                                                         How to write letters

Letter-writing is an art. There are different kinds of letters. In letter a person should be " Respectful to superiors, familiar to friends, affectionate to relatives, simple to children, joyous in congratulations, forceful and impressive in weighty matters. So, everyone who wants to write a letter he/she should focus on main topic and write in good manners.

Kinds of letters :

1. Personal letters   2. Business letters   3. Formal letters  4. Official letters   5. applications.

 Parts of letters :

1. Heading : It comes at the top of a letter in the left hand and consists of the address of the sender, date and file number, such as :

2. Greeting : It depends on the level of intimacy between the sender and the reciever of a letter and also on the type of letter : formal or informal ( personal).

(a) For elders : ( Father, mother, uncle, aunt, sister and grand parents) 

Dear Father/mother, Dear grand father/mother, Dear uncle/aunt

(b) For younger : 

Dear Raghav, Dear Simar, Dear Shiva

(c) For Friends:

Dear John,Dear Chris,Dear Jerry

(d) For Strangers;

Dear Mr Sharma/Dear mrs Pathak

(e) For Official letter;

Sir/Madam , Respected Sir/Madam

3. Body of the letter : It is  the main part of the letter. It carries the main message and subject of metter must clear. Here, we have given some of the introductions to the letter :

(A) Personal Letters :

(a) I am happy to receive your letter.

(b) I received your letter yesterday.

(c) I think you will  be delighted to read.

(d) It is long since i hear from your side.

(e) I am sorry i could not reply your letter.

(f) Its is matter of great joy that you have..........

(g) I am really shocked to read...............

(h) I congratulate you on.............

(i) You have really done something praise-working.

(j) Thank you very much for.............

(k) It is very kind of you to.......

(l) Thanks for your best wishes.....

(m) I express my apology.........

(n) I deeply feel sorry for..........

(o) May i have a favor......................

B. Business letters :

(a) I shall be thankful to you if you.........

(b) We will be obliged if................

(c) We M/S...draw your attention to........

(d) May we draw your attention to............

C. Official letters/Applications :

(a) I beg to state that.........

(b) Most respectfully i ................

(c)  I beg to submit that........

(d) Most humbly i wish to bring to your kind notice ............

4. The subscription :  the conclusion of the letter consists of complimentary close and signature:

(a) Blood relations (elders)

Your lovingly, your loving son/daughter

(b) Younger

Your brother/sister

(c) Friends

Your sincerely

(d) Strangers 

Your truly

(e) officers/editors

Your faithfully

(f) Principal/Teachers

5. Signature : It consists of the written signature of the sender.
